These are masks which heighten an isolated part of the face, as the nose and/or the forefront. With them, we are able to experience two directions of the playing: one that works the genuine side of the actor, unveiling his weakness, his fragilities and making theatrical strength with them (it is the case of the clown – when the actor can use a red nose, which is considered the smallest mask in the World) and another, when the actor fulfill a character with life revealing its ridicule, as it is, for instance, Dr. Balanzone, from Commedia dell’Arte. Both are considered Accentuation, supported within a deep nature, from the actor or from the character.
